Not Legal Advice

Contina K. Walters is not an attorney or law firm and does not provide legal advice.

I cannot:

  • Draft legal documents

  • Prepare legal forms

  • Explain legal rights or legal consequences

  • Interpret legal language

  • Select the notarial act for your document

  • Tell you whether a document is legally valid

  • Tell you whether witnesses are required

  • Guarantee that a document will be accepted by a receiving party

  • Provide immigration, court, estate planning, real estate, tax, or business legal advice

If you have questions about your document, required wording, witnesses, legal effect, or acceptance requirements, please contact the receiving party or a qualified attorney before scheduling.

Document Readiness

Clients are responsible for making sure documents are complete, accurate, and ready for signing before the appointment.

Documents should not be signed before the notary appointment unless instructed otherwise by the receiving party or a qualified attorney.

I cannot choose the type of notarization for you. The document, receiving party, or your attorney should tell you whether an acknowledgment, jurat, oath/affirmation, or another notarial act is needed.

Identification Requirements

Valid, government-issued photo identification is required for notarization.

The name on your identification should reasonably match the name on the document. If there are concerns about identification, name differences, signer capacity, willingness, or document completeness, the notarization may not be completed.

Remote Online Notarization

Remote Online Notarization appointments are completed through a secure online platform and may require identity verification, credential analysis, Knowledge-Based Authentication, audio-video communication, electronic signing, and platform approval.

Not all documents are eligible or appropriate for Remote Online Notarization. Clients are responsible for confirming that the receiving party will accept a remotely notarized document.

Witness-Only Services

Witness-only service is separate from notarization.

If I serve as a witness for a document, I cannot also notarize that same document.

I do not determine whether your document requires witnesses, how many witnesses are required, or whether a witness must meet certain qualifications. Please contact the receiving party or a qualified attorney for witness-related questions.

Apostille and Authentication Courier Support

Apostille courier support means document delivery, pickup, shipping coordination, or general courier assistance related to apostille or authentication processing.

I do not issue apostilles or authentications. Apostilles and authentications are completed by the appropriate government office or agency.

I do not guarantee processing timelines, agency decisions, embassy requirements, foreign government acceptance, or receiving-party acceptance.

Receiving Party Requirements

Every receiving party may have its own rules, document requirements, witness requirements, notarization preferences, and acceptance standards.

Clients are responsible for confirming requirements directly with the receiving party before scheduling service.

No Guarantee of Acceptance

Completion of a notarization, witness-only appointment, or apostille courier request does not guarantee that a document will be accepted by a court, agency, school, employer, embassy, foreign government, title company, financial institution, or any other receiving party.

Right to Decline Service

I may decline or stop service if:

  • The signer does not have acceptable identification

  • The signer does not appear willing or aware

  • The document is incomplete

  • The requested act is not permitted

  • The request appears improper, unlawful, or outside my authority

  • Required participants are not present

  • The appointment conditions are unsafe or unsuitable

  • The document or situation requires legal advice that I cannot provide

Service Area

Mobile notary and in-person witness-only services are available by appointment throughout Harford, Cecil, and Baltimore Counties.

Remote Online Notarization may be available for eligible documents when permitted and accepted by the receiving party.
